Madonna involved in child custody battle

Child custody issues can be extremely complicated if the two sides do not agree on what they believe is in the best interests of the child. Even when two individuals live within the same state, there can be some complications when it comes to figuring out the best parenting schedule. Now imagine having to do that when the two parents live in different countries that are oceans apart.

New Yorkers may have heard about Madonna’s struggle with her ex-husband over the custody of their 15-year-old son. According to a court decision, their son Rocco was supposed to live with his mom in New York but also have visitation with his father. But apparently after Rocco went to visit his dad Guy Ritchie in December, he didn’t want to go back home.

The ex-spouses took the issue up in a London court where the judge begged the two sides to find an amicable solution to the issue. He reminded them that their son is growing up fast and that his youth should not be spent bickering over child custody issues.

The judge also ruled that the United States court would have jurisdiction over the case and that it was costly and unnecessary to have the issue discussed in two separate courts.

The issue may seem very unique to our readers but it’s important to remember that this type of scenario can happen here at home. A teenage child may want to live with one parent instead of the other, which may lead to a fight between the two parents.
